Margaret Smiles Accompaniment Prize

Please join us for The Margaret Smiles Accompaniment Prize, established almost 20 years ago, encouraging the art of accompaniment. This annual award is presented in memory of her dedication and contribution to Canberra’s Musical life. 

Margaret was an accomplished pianist, studying piano with Ken Hastings, Alan Jenkins and then John Luxton at the School of Music. She accompanied and coached many of Canberra’s leading performers and students in a wide range of concerts.

Each year the Llewellyn Choir Prize for the Best Vocalist and Llewellyn Choir Prize for the Most Outstanding Instrumentalist is awarded in conjunction with the Margaret Smiles Accompaniment Prize.

Prizes:

Margaret Smiles Accompaniment Prize; $2000

Llewellyn Choir Prize for the Best Vocalist; $500

and Llewellyn Choir Prize for the Most Outstanding Instrumentalist; $500
