Congratulations to ANU School of Music student Sophie Edwards who has won the Alumni Composition Competition prize of $600, for her song which will be featured at the Alumni Awards at the National Gallery of Australia on Friday 6 April 2018 . Dr Christopher Sainsbury said Sophie's song "...Had a unique angle, and a strongly poetic approach to the brief," which stated the song 'Must be for singer with guitar or piano accompaniment, ‘or’ singer with complete rhythm section (with or without bv’s or small horns section). That is small instrumental forces. Style and feel is perhaps reflective, nostalgic, inspirational and proud at various points. The songwriter determines.'

The Alumni Composition Competition is a new initiative presented by the ANU Alumni team, with the aim of supporting the development of ANU School of Music composition students and featuring their work at the annual ANU Alumni Awards.
