Drums and Percussion

Students studying at the ANU School of Music, explore all things drums and percussion at the undergraduate level. Each student completes a common core of instruments including: snare drum, drum set, keyboard percussion, timpani, and accessory percussion. In addition to their core, each student may choose an area of speciality such as:  Jazz and Contemporary Drumset, Contemporary Orchestral and Chamber Percussion, World Percussion, Digital Percussion, or Jazz Vibraphone.

Classical Guitar

The ANU classical guitar area has long been recognised as one of Australia’s leading guitar programs. Students undertaking classical guitar studies at the ANU become part of a collegial supportive cohort of students, collectively and individually aiming for the highest levels of musical expression and understanding on the guitar.

Each year of undergraduate study covers a broad range of repertoire extending from the Renaissance to the present, along with an individually tailored program of high-level technical development.

Classical Keyboard

Students undertaking keyboard studies at the ANU School of Music have the unique opportunity to study piano, organ, electronic keyboards, carillon, or historical keyboards with some of Australia’s finest exponents in these fields. With an emphasis on eclecticism and practice-led research, keyboard studies at the ANU School of Music can range anywhere from intensive one-on-one lessons, to studying to be a repetiteur, to experimental group improvisation on a range of different keyboards.
