This year’s revised online competition celebrates the solo music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Students are invited to submit an unedited, unaccompanied performance of any solo work by JS Bach. Transcriptions for any classical musical instrument are welcome. Singers are invited to submit a recording of Gounod’s Ave Maria (set to JS Bach’s Prelude in C major from book 1 of the Well Tempered Clavier*) or Stoezel’s Bist du bei mir (formerly attributed to JS Bach). While singers must also be unaccompanied, they are permitted to wear an ear-piece if they wish.
There is no minimum time limit, but recordings must not exceed 10 minutes.
* Singers please note, Gounod’s arrangement of the Bach Prelude contains 1 extra bar.
