Community School of Rock

Ever dreamed of being a rock star, but never had the time and resources to make it happen?

Do you want to take the stage with a group of like-minded peers and make your rock star dreams come true?

The ANU Open School of Music's Community School of Rock is your chance to find your inner rock star!

In partnership with teachers of The Bec Taylor School of Music and staff from the ANU Open School of Music, during this 10 week course you'll learn core musical concepts including song-writing, arrangement and instrumentation and the key skills needed to polish, practice and perform your own songs.

Classes will begin on Saturday 7th September, and run until Saturday 16th November, with a break for the October long weekend on the 5th of October.  Each 3 hour Saturday session includes a lecture and ensemble coaching.

Please note that we already have a full complement of instruments for our Semester 2 program, but we are still accepting late applications from drummers.

To register your interest as a drummer in our next program, or to add your name to the waiting list for our 2020 programs, please complete our webform here.

The cost of the program is $125, but is offered free to health care card and centrelink pension card holders.

You may also like to subscribe to our Open School for Adults newsletter - short workshops for adults in songwriting and music production are also being planned.
