
The Llewellyn Choir (TLC) Awards Program is being launched in 2026 to provide opportunities for young Canberrans who enjoy choral singing to develop their choral skills with TLC.
TLC is one of Canberra’s leading choirs, performing exciting, innovative, as well as classical repertoire under the leadership of award-winning Music Director Rowan Harvey-Martin and Canberra’s most sought-after accompanist Dr Anthony Smith.

TLC Awardees will be up to 30 years of age, able to read music and, in addition to enthusiasm for choral singing, may also play a musical instrument.
Selection of TLC Awardees will be by written application, interview and vocal audition.
Benefits
TLC Awardees will be provided with a quarterly honorarium of $375 for one year and will receive the following benefits:
- free membership of TLC for one year
- bios/photos posted on TLC website and used in TLC marketing to promote awardees’ careers (with awardees permission)
- a complimentary double pass to TLC’s performances in 2026.
In addition, for TLC Awardees seeking to develop their wider musicianship skills, benefits also include:
- experience with developing TLC rehearsal schedules
- experience in leading TLC warm-up sessions
- opportunity to lead TLC sectional rehearsals
- opportunity to perform either solo or in ensemble with The Llewellyn Sinfonia
- opportunity to act as the cohort leader allocated to one of the 4 TLC performances in 2026 , for the purpose of developing the musicianship skills listed above
- opportunity to sing minor solo roles or play with the Llewellyn Sinfonia and be featured in concert programs and marketing.
Conditions of the TLC Awards Program
Awardees will prepare for TLC rehearsals in line with the music director’s guidance
Awardees undertaking musicianship skills development with the TLC music director and/or accompanist will implement their guidance and regularly attend sessions as assigned
Awardees will be expected to attend rehearsals leading up to each TLC concert unless absence is granted by their section leader for illness, compassionate grounds, or pre-existing professional and travel commitments.
Leave will not be granted for rehearsals or performances with other ensembles, except where these commitments have been made prior to confirmation of the award. Participants who regularly arrive late or are repeatedly absent without leave may forfeit their award.
