Our story
Community Music Centre
The ANU Community Music Centre is the community outreach program at the School of Music and is funded by artsACT. Previously the Open School of Music, we have recently changed our name to better reflect the nature of the programs we offer and the breadth of our audience. Though we are operating under a new name, we are bringing with us the knowledge and experience of our time as the Open School as well as a host of faithful participants and supporters.
The Community Music Centre programs provide developing musicians with a supportive and nurturing social environment within which they can improve their technical and theoretical knowledge of music, interact and share their love of music with their peers, and rub shoulders with the world of professional music-making. Our extensive range of programs deliver unique experiences for individuals from diverse and widespread backgrounds, facilitating and supporting bringing people and communities together through music. There are both long and short courses available offering experiences in a variety of genres and learning styles, including semester-based programs, mini courses (4-5 week courses), and one-off workshops. For more information about our programs, visit the 'our programs' part of our website, or download our 2024 Programs flyer.
