Sean Kirk

Sean has been a professional drummer for over 8 years and recently graduated from the ANU School of Music, receiving the Peter and Lena Karmel award for being the School of Music’s Premier Graduating Student. Sean has preformed with artists including world renowned bass player Eric Ajaye, John Mackey, Miroslav Bukovsky, Greg Stott and Hugh Barrett.

Sean specialises in teaching open handed drumming techniques also working with cross handed drummers as well. Sean is primarily a professional Jazz drummer but teaches a vast array of genres including trad jazz, pop, funk and rock. 

Sean’s teaching approach is personalised for each student focusing on their learning and performance goals. Sean has a passion for a holistic approach to music and the drum kit which allows musicians to develop skills that can be easily incorporated into a band or gigging setting.
