Ishq is a CD, music installation, film, and scholarly paper to accompany The Arts of Islam: Treasures of the Nasser D Khalili Collection, which toured to the Art Gallery of NSW. This collection contains 20,000 items, many priceless and unique. The music responds to 350 of the finest works of the collection. Significant works in this project include: Rashi al-Din's Jami' al-Tawarikh (Compendium of Chronicles); one of the most significant collections of Korans in the world, dating to the 10-13th centuries; Persian and Ottoman miniatures and illuminated manuscripts; and the Persian Shahnama (The Book of Kings), which belonged to the Safavid ruler Shah Tahmasp (1540-1576).
