The Community Rock School is a long-standing and popular program run by the ANU Community Music Centre (the Outreach programs of the ANU School of Music, funded exclusively through generous grant funding from artsACT).
Since its inception in 2021, the Rock School has welcomed hundreds of aspiring Canberra musicians and has raised many a roof during their 'school's out' gigs (the School of Music's many roof issues are definitely caused by hail damage and not Community Rock School roof-raising...we think).
Community Rock School is coordinated by local rock legend, Micha Forman, who is a drummer, bassist, music teacher, and partner at Sun Bear Music. She has performed with many Canberra bands including G&T-Rex.
The 2026 5-week Community Rock School intensive is well underway and Micha and her team of Rock School tutors have been deep in the trenches guiding a fresh new batch of Community Rockers.
This group will end their course with a casual gig for family friends on 30 May – no guarantees that the roof will stay intact as a new batch of rock legends are unleashed!
