Community Rock School

About

Participants in our Community Rock School are provided the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a contemporary band setting. We offer two courses each year, a 5-week course and a 10-week course, allowing participants develop their skills and unleash their inner rocker!

The 5-week course participants present a concert to their family and friends at ANU and the 10-week course participants conclude their intensive by playing a live gig at Smiths Alternative.

 

Course Details

The program runs on consecutive Saturdays at ANU School of Music, 1:30 – 5:30 pm.

 

5-Week Course Dates: 

4, 11, 18, & 25 May; & 1 June

 

10-Week Couse Dates:

24 & 31 August; 7, 14, 21 & 28 September

(break)

12, 19, & 26 October; & 2 November

Performance at Smiths Alternative on Saturday evening, 2 November. 

 

Eligibility

It is a requirement of our funding that our participants are ACT residents. However, non-ACT residents can apply, understanding that placement preference is given to ACT residents.

All applicants, regardless of ability or previous experience, can be admitted to this program. The 5-week course is usually designed for beginner musicians (those with at least 6 months on their instrument), but anyone can apply. This program is for adults aged 18 and over.

10-week course $150

Fees can be paid here through the ANU's OneStop Secure Payment Portal.

Fees can be waived for current pension or healthcare card holders or anyone experiencing financial difficulties. If you would like to waive the fees for this program, please email us at communitymusiccentre@anu.edu.au
