Eligibility

It is a requirement of our funding that our participants are ACT residents. However, non-ACT residents can apply, understanding that placement preference is given to ACT residents.

All applicants, regardless of ability or previous experience, can be admitted to this program. We ask all applicants to complete a short streaming questionnaire to assess their current knowledge level so that we can group participants and plan classes accordingly.

How To Apply

We are currently taking applications for our 2025 CATS program. To apply, please fill out the following application form: Application to the Community Music Centre.

We enrol our main round of participants at the start of each year; however, we are happy to accept applications all year round. Applicants who apply after our Semester 1 groups have been confirmed will be placed on a waiting list. We will often review our waiting list prior to the commencement of our Semester 2 programs.

Streaming Questionnaire

All applicants applying to join CATS classical, jazz, or the adult stream are required to fill out a streaming questionnaire. This allows the program coordinators to get a better understanding of your current skill level and how to structure the class accordingly. It is totally ok if you are not able to answer any of the questions on the streaming questionnaire or if you find the streaming questionnaire really easy. We aim to make a place for everyone, but just need to get an idea of everyone's level so we can structure the groups appropriately.

We are working towards making the streaming questionnaire in an online format! When this has been finalised, we'll release it to all necessary applicants.
