About

Sing with Toby is a community choir. Term-based weekly rehearsals are held at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre from 5:30pm – 7:00pm on a Tuesday. The choir is free for poeple over the age of 18.

Opera singer and choir conductor extraordinaire, Tobias Cole leads the choir especially for the Tuggeranong community; taking singers on a magical journey, incorporating a variety of public performances and other opportunities.

Participants are given the space and skills to explore the art of singing, through rounds, vocal exercises, and a diverse selection of choral music. Choir members enjoy the opportunity to examine some key elements of singing: their voices, vocal technique, language, rhythms and harmonies.

Most importantly, participants develop their ability to ‘hearken,’ or actively listen, applying it to free improvisation to enjoy being present, tapping into their intuition and resonating together. The choir is as much about engagement of participants, their wellbeing and the importance of community, as it is about the music and voice.

Thanks to a progressive and collaborative partnership with ANU Community Music Centre and Tuggeranong Arts Centre, this choir now has over 30 members that meet each week to rehearse and perform.

Terms and Conditions for participating in Sing With Toby

A non-refundable admin fee of $30 must be paid each term on confirmation of enrolment. Some bursaries are available – applications should be made in writing to the CEO.
Choir members must be aged 18 and over and officially registered and on the class roll. One trial class is permitted prior to registration, by prior communication with TAC staff.
Choir members are expected to participate fully and willingly as directed by the choir director and in a manner that does not negatively impact other choir members.
Choir members are expected to show respect to each other, the choir director, and any other staff or volunteers associated with the choir. This includes refraining from any discriminatory or abusive language or behaviour and treating others with kindness and consideration.
Choir members are expected to prioritise safety at all times during rehearsals, performances, and other choir events, and to follow any safety guidelines or instructions provided by the choir director or other staff.
TAC reserves the right to revoke participation in the choir should any member fail to adhere to these expectations.

Eligibility and Enrolment

The Choir is currently full for term 2, 2025. Interested members can still apply but they will be placed on a waiting list. Please see the Tuggeranong Arts Centre Website for more information and a link to the application: Sing With Toby TAC Webpage .

The choir is limited to 50 participants. If the choir is full you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted when a space is available.

TAC staff will process your enquiry and you will receive email confirmation of your enrolment
Enrolment is managed through Class Manager.
Your enrolment will roll over each month. If you want to withdraw, you will need to let TAC know in writing via info@tuggeranongarts.com
