Students studying contemporary and popular music performance can do so at Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Higher Degree Research level.

Students undertake their contemporary performance in a creative environment, and a supportive atmosphere, allowing for the exploration of ideas and development of individual style.

Popular music performance students can partake in contemporary ensembles. 

The School of Music offers fantastic rehearsal spaces for group, band and ensemble performance practice. We have a range of contemporary drum kits, guitar and bass amplifiers.

Eclectic aesthetic directions are catered for and fusion styles are particularly encouraged. Classical instrumentalists are most welcome to participate in contemporary performance ensembles.

Currently, our popular performance ensembles include Nu-Folk, Contemporary R&B, Alternative Rock, Ambient and Virtuoso Electric Guitar groups.
